Even though E-PAN is legally accepted as specified in the Income Tax Act, yet when you apply for a Credit card with IDFC bank, during eKYC they refuse to accept e-PAN and demands physical PAN. They do not have an offline process either.

When I complained about this on twitter, it appears they have bots sending out responses.

Had the same problem with Amex for e-aadhar a few years ago. Basically, the reps or the guys above them are not confident of the rules and in order to save themselves from any criticism or problem from people above, they tend to act like this instead of taking effort to get things clarified and/or updated in their process documents. I would say problem is with people who define the process.

E-Aadhaar is another such example. Once my wife went for examination and in admit card it was mentioned that she will need to show aadhaar. This was before PVC cards were there. The entry guys refused to accept the print of e-Aadhaar and accepted the same when it was a colour print with lamination. For getting this, she was roaming in an unknown area to get that print and lamination done when her exam was about to start.

What do you mean by physical copy of ePAN? You mean a print? laminated print? or the one you get from IT department?

1st requesting physical PAN costs extra money. You always don't keep it handy. Plus if ePAN is a legal document why do I need anything else. They are not ready to accept from digilocker.
