@Sushubh that's why I am now sticking to Citibank and amex credit card owning to better and instant customer support. I suffered badly with HDFC. Though offers are less comparative but peace of mind.
yeah should have kept my citibank card alive. it was a crappy one but even with that i was able to get customer support to confirm recently quite easily that it was disabled due to lack of usage and i would have to apply fresh for a new card.
so account is open now. but idiots have put me on the old app and old banking portal. they got me to activate it on the old version app and told me that same credentials would work on the new app but nope. it's now stuck on the old app and old portal. though it seems to be quite usable so far. kit is not yet arrived but upi seems to be enabled from the app itself so that's nice. can receive money but can't send it till debit card details are available. though the app did create an mpin for me. upi apps however do not detect it so i assume it's separate.
and of course. they also have the Q&A thing mandatory so that's awful.

also not getting any sms or email alerts from the bank. lol. did not even get account creation sms. branch guy was adament that i should have received a sms by now. conducted a few transactions just now and no alerts. no sms. no email. lol. i did get this stupid one.
email id and mobile number are accurate. as i did get the otps. and the above null mail lol.

Oooh, I wasn't aware of that. Just tried the new app and I get a message saying I have to use the old app 
yup. as per their website, accounts opened after december 15 2020 are on new website. but from the looks of it, it depends upon where you activate. and since i activated on the old app, i also got connected to the old website. anyhow. they would probably migrate accounts on old portal/app to new one eventually...
