Imgur is blocking logins and uploads from Indian users

I also had similar experience today, while trying to insert an image in my post here.

Also, noticed you won't find imgur.com in google search results. You have to type the URL yourself.
 
@Sushubh Is this the error? I had this sometime back and thought it was just temporary. Checked now and it still happens.

yeah they are definitely blocking uploads from multiple countries. it is not account specific as i can upload from american ips through VPN.

i cannot find much about this blockage online except for some old posts. i guess imgur is just not as hot around here as it is in other markets. i know that they are proactively blocking adult content but that does not mean that you just block uploads from entire countries lol. i hope they reconsider but the ban has sustained for long enough that it seems like they just do not want traffic from certain markets.

i am considering enabling uploads lol for certain accounts. i just hate native uploads being used for shitposts. every image becomes a forum lifetime headache for me to host/backup/restore/etc. but imgur blockage makes it hard as other image services are just worse as they try to provide code that has smaller image embedded and you have to click on it to get to the bigger image on their website.

ping me if you want image uploads enabled on your account and avoid using it for memes and stuff lol.
 
lol. there is nothing on the website. why someone created this lol. seems to work.

still annoying coz i prefer to use sharex to upload and have control over uploads as using my own account let me delete accidentally uploaded images that might have private information. using a share account like the service above might mean that one day all your uploads through the above site might be gone coz imgur tracked down the account being used and just suspend it completely or something. but still useful for special cases where i need to upload a bunch of images.

I will use some other site for uploading where images are kept forever or have the option to at least select the expiry. I have an imgur account, I think, but all my uploads are done without account login. Will check if logging in makes a difference.
