Basically they want to have similar control over what we do over the internet like they control what we can watch on TV and print.

Internet needs stricter curbs than print, TV: Centre to SC - The Times of India

And then these fuckers say to press that they are all for freedom of speech and against censorship on the web.

"Considering the reach and impact of medium, leeway be given to legislature to frame rules. On internet every individual is a director, producer and broadcaster and a person can send offensive material to millions of people at a same time in nanosecond just with a click of button," he said.

"In case of internet, it is very easy to invade someone's privacy. Morphing of images can be done and put on internet or some rumour can be spread through internet which can create social disorder in society. It is not possible to outrage someone's modesty through print and television but it can be easily done through internet," the ASG said.

IAMAI In Charge Of Identifying Objectionable Internet Content: Minister

Prasad told Rajya Sabha members, “Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), an association of content providers, has been mandated to prepare a list of objectionable sites, particularly pornographic websites, available on Internet.” He went on to say that these identified sites will be considered for disabling.

Now that this task of identifying websites with objectionable content has been given to IAMAI, things have got interesting. One has to note that Google India Managing Director Rajan Anandan is the Chairman of IAMAI, while Facebook’s India Chief Kirthiga Reddy is the Vice Chairman of the body.
