I'm happy and okay with all this, but in return there should be a citizen side app installed on every government employee and their family phones where each and every citizen of the country can see everything they do including transcripts of official government calls, payments recieved, microphone access (+ live CCTV footage of their offices). This would prevent scammers to take bribes and make our country a more powerful and non corrupt one. I totally accept this change and vouch for this one as well.

Everytime you wanna go to a govt office to get something done, take a 25 min break before where you spy on each other. Then enter the office and say the words, 'I know what you did last summer.'. Job done. Noice.

Thankgod Apple has denied the order but who knows since I have read that Apple has specifically done the opposite when in China and has made specific servers to snoop on their nationals as required by their govt. Hope Apple doesn't pull something like this here since who is actually monitoring any of it.

Rest remaining Samsung is reviewing the order while the pi-mp BBK will happily comply as it looks

Beyond all the hue and cry almost all features on that app are opt-in. It just need SMS permissions in the beginning for a successful SIM bind.

You can check the app's listing on App Store where it clearly mentions that the app doesn't collect any data. I would trust Apple's app reviewers over twitter experts since they have access to internal tools to check an app. The process is not infallible but I seriously doubt Indian Govt's ability to circumvent those checks.

The app can be classified as bloatware and people will have the option to uninstall it. Even if you leave it, the app doesn't activate on it's own. Yes, it would have been better if the govt ran a campaign to spread awareness about the app instead of trying to get into private devices. Have just demonised a useful app for no reason at all.

Even if you don't trust the app, it's best to check all the SIMs issued in your name regularly using the web portal before you are a victim of SIM fraud since most of us give out physical copies of our aadhaar card freely.

@reddevil08 I hope you are aware about Android OS, wherein the devs gets free hand. Apple is (maybe) secure because of their stringent policies but same can't be said for Google playstore for Android OS and who knows what compliance they can get in future for both app stores.
