I had seen this video long back.. possible 2007 (the year mentioned in video).But I wonder even after 4 years, this is not in use. (atleast i never saw in car using this tech).So I think there must be a drawback that car manufacturers are not using it.

Costs are obviously going to be higher in building a sliding door as opposed to what is being made today. Even if it makes its way to cars, I don't think it would be put anywhere below the 10lac segment

cost? for rich people, doors worth 10-20 thousand extra wont be much if its going to increase their status!

Maybe eliminating the "B" pillar reduces the safety of the car during impact.
