IP Address for EVDO users

Hi ,I just got my EVDO Data card last week .. I've read in some forums that BSNL is giving public dynamic IPs ( just like in dataone ) for evdo connections . But when i did a ipconfig , i found that my device had a 10.xx.xx.xx ip address ( which is a private ip address ) .Is BSNL provinding public IP address for EVDO connections ? If yes what how does the bvIP address start ?I get 3-4 bars of EVDO signal in my area ( Jayanagar 1st block, Bangalore) ... But still the speed is only around 300 kbps (18 KBps max) , does my device need to be reconfigured ? How can we tell if a device reeds to be re configured ?

I have heard that if you are using vista , you might need a patch for evdo for better performance. Also, in some places BSNL has been asking users to update firmware of the device. but you should get it confirmed.

well, as far as i know , bsnl provides only private ips and not public ips.. and has many ports blocked.
