@kiknyjake
I'm not sure if you can get rid of the call/data summary flash messages (I could be wrong). I have primarily been a post paid user so it has never been an issue for me. As for battery drain, the call/data summary messages won't cause any noticeable drain as they popup only when you make a call or use data. If you had their other flash messages turned on which are basically advertising and popup at all times then that will definitely drain your battery.

@GarfieldDC
Thank you. Atleast I know is probably not possible to turn off/deactivate the flash call summary message.

Screenshot of how the phone looks after the dismiss button is hit on call summary screen:

I also read somewhere that after de-activating flash I should "In the flash list select My topic option and select all service as Off."But when I select "My Topics" all I get is this:

Thank you for all your help and support!

I am using this on multiple iPhones on postpaid 500 3G plans I have no issues and hotspots work by default Maybe using the latest software and factory resetting would help??

Q1. Are you using an official microSiM or a regular SIM cut down to size? This does make a difference as far as iPhone services are concerned. I have faced no issues after getting an official microSIM.

Q2. When you connect a device to your iPhone's hotspot are you also entering the wifi password to connect?

Q3. What device are you trying to connect to the hotspot?

Qr. Have you tried backing up & restoring your device?

1) Yes, official microSiM.
2) Yes, iPhone is showing as wireless network.
3) MacBook Pro.
4) No.

Thanks GarfieldDC for replying.
i) I am not getting internet connectivity through the wireless connection of the iPhone.
ii) Do I need any APN configuration profile for tethering? I have none on my device.

That is a little strange. You shouldn't be facing problems connecting to a Mac. They share the same ecosystem. I would suggest that you confirm with Vodafone CC that iPhone services are activated on your connection. If not then get it activated. You should not need to configure any apn if the service is active. The only time you would need to setup an apn profile would be if you are trying to use a data plan withou the iPhone service activated. Are you able to access the web via the browser and run apps that used data on your iPhone?

Yes it is activated, coz earlier I was using a 2G Data Pack (Non-iPhone) with APN set through iPhone Configuration Utility. Later when I got 3G activated, I got iPhone services also activated & removed the APN profile. Also as stated earlier to verify the same, I had sent MYSERVICES to 111 & in the response SMS I got iPhone, Vodafone Live, Vodafone Mobile Connect, GPRS Bearer Service, Video Call, 3G Service.

Yes, I am not facing any issue with the net connectivity running Safari/ Chrome, App Store, Mail etc.

1. Doesn't make a difference

I confirm this across multiple providers

Failtel
Voda
Reliance

My experience shows it does make a difference. How did you confirm this across multiple providers? Have you used a regular SIM cut down to size and an official microSIM on each operator's network?

Hi GarfieldDC,

I guess you have been through the same dilemma as am currently in.

I am using an unlocked iPhone 4S on Vodafone Network with 3G; but unable to use tethering through hotspot.

My device is appearing in the network's list but no internet connection.

I had set configuration profiles earlier for Edge/ GPRS but uninstalled them on getting iPhone services activated.

Now, I do not have any configuration profiles set on my device. Can you please assist me in resolving the issue?

I was facing the same issue .. Let the net get connected from ur hotspot .. Wait for sometime and it will show the yellow icon on ur laptop saying "Limited connectivity" .. After 2-3 mins it will lose tht connection and reconnect again automatcially ..
This time ur internet should start working ..

I know this is without any logic but this is how the tethering was working for me when I first activated 3G .. It continued this way for 2-3 months..
Although now its fine and starts working in the very first time ..

If you are not averse to the idea and since you have a factory unlocked iPhone, I would suggest you restore your phone via iTunes and see if that resolves the issue. Doing a restore has helped me in fixing issues that I was unable to fix otherwise. Its usually a last resort. When i do this i always setup the iPhone as a new phone rather than restoring from backup and risking carrying over any issues.

Now, I have started getting a message: 'To Enable Personal Hotspot, contact Vodafone India.' :sarcastic:
