I believe when you use Jio 4g your ipv6 will be under NAT and single ipv6 address is NATed (correct me if I'm wrong) but in Jio fiber the end devices are assigned with individual ipv6 address.

So I was setting up my new router and noticed that I get an IPV6 address now. So far I found it pretty decent. Pings are comparable to that of IPV4.

I'm on the 50 Mbps plan, but when hitting an IPV6 address, speed appears to consistently go to 100+ Mbps. ;) Would need to test some more though to confirm the behaviour.

@varkey 🤔 darn I need to change my router and check back with ipv6. No wonder I used to get 70mbps when on ethernet ipv6 once in a while.

Will lco provided bsnl ftth gets ipv6?
It's not upto lco I guess if bsnl provides it, we do get it.
@philip i think you can check it up with your Ernakulam office if they have started it they would configure it for you as they have done it for me.

Yes, I do use Jio 4G as the backup WAN. But unlike BSNL, for Jio, there is no prefix delegation, so the client devices don't get a routable IPv6 address.
So if BSNL, is up, it could use one of its own IPv6 addresses to go out without NAT.

Some outstanding questions in my mind. If BSNL fails, would it then use the Jio 4G IPv6 through the local IPv6 addresses? 🤔🤔 Is there NAT involved when a client device go out over Jio IPv6?

There are multiple IPv6 addresses getting assigned to client devices. The 2001 addresses are BSNL's, the fd13 ones are assigned by my router. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

I'm still trying to fully understand how it all works (getting my hands dirty with IPv6 only now). Will keep the thread updated as I learn more.
Get it as dirty as you can. Iam outside i will check back again with my bsnl technicians and put back my ipv6. Will do tests and post it up.
@varkey can you post some more speedtests

I guess my problems where due to that mtu being above 1545.
If I do get back my ipv6 I think I can replicate your speeds. If that's the case I guess then bsnl is offering 100mbps over 50mbps connection is agreat NEWS 😁👍

I will try contacting them .It will be a. hardwork for explaining to them about ipv6. They can just transfer us to ipv6 isn't it ?

@varkey 1. can bsnl ipv6 implementation (quality and performance) be vary in different circles/States or or will be almost same everywhere?
2. Also, can northern states also get 80-90 Mbps speed on 50Mbps plan? Any chance?
3. Is this hike in downloading speed temporary or it will be remain like this for long time?

As for first two questions... We should ask someone else who have Implemented it outside the state.
The third question question I'm waiting for it too.. Dont know if those speeds are sustained.
I have Implemented ipv6 over my router, I do get the ipv6 recognized addess on both my router and pc but still it won't route through it.
It would rather choose ipv4. Don't know if its done by bsnl authorities since I complained about ipv6 or if if it's something else.

Need more digging into the matter.
