Just curious. I was planning to put the entire load on my online UPS (at max I would only be running a fan and a light on it. Maybe two) instead of buying a new inverter. Would this be fine? Or UPS systems are designed for computers alone?

A UPS would give more stable sinewaves for output which should not damage any damn device when connected.

Evan a very Old electrical equipment would work just fine with newer UPS provided power as its more stable.

In simple words, you are asking will RO water would be better than TAP water.

however if you ever need to claim warranty don't explain this stuff to shopkeepers as they are bunch of A/Holes who would
only need a reason to dis-qualify the claim :-)

I am already running my LED tv on UPS to avoid the frequent cuts (for the period b/w light gone and power backup on and vice versa), as well as the fluctuation of power back up (since it is the power form genset so may fluctuate).

No issues so far in two years..
