I have a Sony Full HD LCD TV. I have connected the progressive out of BIG STB using a Philips Component cable. Still I don't see the TV display in progressive. If I connect the same cables to my DVD player, I have an option to adjust for Progressive display. The TV displays 576p. But for the BIG STB progressive connection I get only 576i. Am I missing something? :wall:

the big tv stb can only give 576i which is shown by ur bravia tv.u have connected via component connection ,and in general component out can either give a interlaced signal or progressive signal.in big tv case it gives a interlaced signal.

Please tell me and the others on this forum how you know a particular channel is beaming at 576i? Is this information provided by the DTH setbox or by the TV you have. If it is provided by the TV, please let us know the brand and model please. Thanks!

well i have the Sony bravia KLV-32V300A the tv shows the information as 576i when i connect the big tv stb via component ,when u connect it via composite it doesnt show the information.and in india we follow pal color system and SD resolution is 576i.

Thank you. Have you tried connecting a DVD player using component and see what resolution it beams at? I would think it should be more than the 576 you get presently.Just a thought!

Adder, do you mean to say that the BIG TV STB cannot provide a Progressive out, since it is not followed/supported in India?

well all we know is that the BIG tv gives a interlaced signal via component, whether it can give a progressive signal may be or may be not.but for pal region SD resolution is 576i.

Agree with adder, it will give signal at 576i at 29fps,

it will not give anything above that as it is not upscaling, if the input is SD, the output will be SD only, whatever out you use, so even with a composite cable the signal quality will be more or less the same ... :thumb:

Thank You adder and dushie. That clarifies. I guess this thread can be now considered closed. :thumb:
