They arent blocking p2p.

They are blocking incoming ports. Thats not the same as blocking p2p.

What happens when you try and use any torrent? Arent you able to connect? Arent you able to download/upload?

you can't do anything. I think we should get together and do something against isp who are just acting like a tyranical rulers like hitler. As there is no policy by trai to block p2p action can be taken if its really blocked.

nettlynx networks

lot of isps block ports, unless you call up and request to unblock!! In my case lots of ports were blocked, used to ocasionally call up and request them to unblock :thumb:

Ok.. people.. Hi.. I'm new here.
Lots of fighting going on here, but the way I see it.. NO ONE CARES if you know more than the other.. so SHUT IT.

OK.. Lets look at the problem.
1. A significant number of us with certain types of Tata Plans can't use torrents. Ports are blocked.
2. Tata claims these ports are no blocked. However, all our checking shows us that there is something with the ports which is not allowing our P2P torrent thingies to work.
-->So, is Tata lying?
-->Or maybe, the engineers and support staff are unaware of these problems.

Either way, we must fix this. I paid for a 1mbps, and I Torrents are supposed to work. I intend to get my money's worth.

What can be done about it?
1. Keep annoying your Tata engineer to fix it.

A little bit of info which might help some of you out.
The Tata Engineer in your Area is responsible for keeping your connection working and your "TICKETS" Closed.
The tickets are given to him by the call centre. The more tickets in his area, and longer they are open, the worse his evaluation. Essentially.. if there are a lot of complaints in his area, and these are not resolved, the company will, how do I say this nicely, BUMBOO him.

So, post a ticket (call their Customer Support) saying that your Torrents aren't working, and make sure that the ticket stays open. 1 Phone call every 2 days, for 1 week... not much work, eh?

2. Keep Annoying your Tata Engineer to fix it.
If you have the local guys number.. keep annoying him. Don't ask him "Are the ports closed" Tell HIM..
TELL HIM that the Ports are closed and he must get your Utorrent working.
If he gives you some crap about "This is a problem with your computer" or "it's a problem with your software", then show him this thread.

Tell him nicely and sweetly, that many people have this same problem, and it's a PROBLEM with TATA.. so PLEASE "Kindly" solve it.

3. Keep Annoying your Tata Engineer to fix it.
Dude.. TORRENTs are no Illegal. So don't be shy.
Sure, what some people do with torrents is illegal, but thats a complex case to prove. So, as far as TATA is concerned, you want torrents to download LEGAL stuff from the internet.
Lots of ISP, in India especially block stuff like torrents, p2p, and other high bandwidth stuff, illegally. They do this because they believe that since people download illegal stuff and porn, they will be more reluctant to fight.
Which is true. Plus in India, we rarely fight.. just accept shit, right?

ANYWAY>. LOOK>. if it's your POPs money, then you don't care.. fine.
I'm paying for this with my cash, so I do care.
Try to fix this, and if you can get TATA to admit this is a problem, please do keep us all informed.

Thanks,
D
