Would anyone here please give me some advice? I found this laptop for sale: http://ahmedabad.quikr.com/HP-2000-2d02TU-6-months-old-15-000-Only-W0QQAdIdZ165116262 I WAS planning to buy a new Lenovo but this HP costs at least eight thousand rupees less and is supposedly still under warranty for the next 6 months. I rang up the seller and he said he would show me the bill of sale, warranty papers etc when he comes to my house tomorrow to show me the laptop. He claims he is selling it after having it only 6 months because he needs money urgently. I recently saw another ad by someone who wanted to sell his lappy after only 10 days and he too claimed he needed money due to some emergency. But when I googled his lappy I saw it has a very inferior processor.So though I would like to get a good deal and buy a lappy that is still under warranty, I also wonder why anyone would sell any lappy after only a few months. I suspect these guys failed to do the research before buying and then found out afterwards the processor is too slow or the lappy has some other problem.I googled and read up various sites on:HP 2000-2d02TUAnd Processor: Intel(R) pentium (R) CPU B960 @2.2GHz 2.2GHzSince those are the specs of the lappy.I found this said on the net: "The B960 isn't a horrible processor, but it is mediocre at best"The seller said it was a dual core, but it doesn’t sound like it and it's never a good sign when a seller lies to you.However I only need the lappy for my writing and research. The HP service center is near my house and we could take it there so I can get it checked out by them but then would they be able to tell anything was wrong such as overheating if the lappy seemed to be working fine for some time?I remember reading of one HP lappy series that had some lousy screens that died in a year or two. Not this particular series but it left me with some doubts about HP as a brand, especially since my very first desktop was an HP and it always gave me trouble.And he says he has never used an antivirus on it. Friend of mine warned me that one danger of buying a used lappy is that it could have some rootkit infection or something that corrupted it so bad and went so deep it would be uncurable.So can you please recommend any programs that would check for stuff like that and ensure this lappy--or any lappy I want to buy--is virus free and has no other problems such as overheating and an iffy screen? I had not considered buying online. Is it safe? i have made inquiries at various dealers and I can get a Lenova for Rs 23 to 26,000.
So I thought this HP was a good deal. If I buy online, will they still send me a tech to help me install all my programs etc? they claim they give onsite warranty but do they really? i fear getting a product with flaws and then they wont exchange it. i have never bought anything big online.
Actually this guy who is selling the lappy said he had got it online from Snapdeal which did make me wonder if it had some defect and they would not take it back.
As for the Asus mentioned in the previosu post. Thanks, but it has a Celeron processor and seems slower than the one I am considering since the Clock Speed is only 1.5 GHz but for the used HP one, its 2.2 GHz. Doesnt that make a significant difference?
So basically I'm trying to get a better quality item than I would get for that price.
As for Acer I have heard one should not buy these low end ones. Plus the one mentioned above has no DVD drive.

Theres no harm in buying online. If you get from flipkart, get from seller WS retail, I am quite sure that you will not face any problem with them. If there are any problems, you can send them the lappy back and they will replace it with a new one. And for any normal servicing, you can go to any authorized service centers and show them the flipkart bill.
I would say its worth the risk as the chances of getting a bad product is low, when compared to the money you save.

A processor clocked at 2 ghz but build on a older architecture will be slower that a processor clocked at 1 ghz but based on a new architecture.

Thanks. There are various online stories such as flipkart, snapdeal, junglee.com. Which would you say is the most reliable?
Some months ago I bought a new CPU for my desktop, ie the tower case with everything in it since my monitor, etc were fine.
I had it assembled, and chose the AMD dual core 270 processor with 2 MB cache and 3.4 GZ speed.
I researched a lot before choosing the processor. It was a choice between the AMD dual core and the Intel dual core. The Intel is 2.8 Gigahertz with 3 MB Cache. The AMD is 3.4 GZ with 2 MB cache.
Three different techs assured me that the AMD was faster despite the smaller cache size cos the important thing was that it was 3.4 Gz. One told me that makes it even faster than the Intel i5 and i7. And I noticed in one big electronics store that the i5 all-in-ones had a speed of at most 3GZ.
I asked why AMD was somewhat cheaper if it was faster. And also why most computers here have intel processors.
They said cos Intel had a name and cos in the past AMD processors used to overheat and so now people are wary of them. But the problem is now solved.
My question is, can I find this kind of AMD dual core processor with 2 MB cache and 3.4 GZ speed in a laptop? So far I have not seen any such lappys with this kind of fast AMD processor. I am not going to buy any expensive ones like i3 unles they cost about the same as a dual core. Some time ago a store here advertised a Dell i3 for about Rs 23,000 which would be a good deal but I suspect there must have been something else inferior about it since i3s are never that cheap. And I have heard that Dell lappys are flimsy and its best to buy Lenovo.

I am guessing PC manufacturers here in India avoid launching laptops with high end AMD processors because the demand is low. People prefer to go for Intel based machines. That is a fact. Most AMD machines you would find in the market would be based on their APUs which are a compact solution providing good value for money deal.
Also about Intel... Do not just go by i3/i5/i7 branding... There have been four generation of Intel i series I believe. So look into which generation processor that particular machine has. I personally prefer going for a Haswell processor machine because of the low power consumption benefits.
