Dear Members

Anyone can confirm if AT & T taken over VODAFONE ??

As of now if I calle Any vodafone number in Gujarat, it gives this message " Welcome to AT & T Wireless, we are sorry, the number you have called can't receive calls at this time".

Any other users from another circle have the same experiance??
From which operator were you calling?
When I call from my Vodafone number to any other operator, if other number is out of coverage, I hear that Vodafone number is out of coverage even if number I called is not Vodafone. I have no idea why this message is heard.
But hearing AT&T is weird. AT&T relationship with India ended after it sold its stake from IDEA many years ago.
Regarding Vodafone, they are doing good in India, so I doubt they will be selling their business.

in U.P. (East) recently I see vodafone voice response for various status has "Vodafone" removed
earlier it was " the vodafone number you are calling is unavailable at the moment"
Since a month or two I hear " the number you are calling is unavailable....."
(I checked after switching off my voda and calling from other operators I have)
don't know if this is plan to sell or its just another marketing trick for some reasons.

I tried to calling from BSNL, Docomo & Idea also. I told my friend to check also, he also got the same AT & T message. Most of my friends are on Vodafone.

I hear about Vodafone takeover of Tata Teleservices. I don't think that AT&T is purchasing Vodafone.
That could be back-end operations like Billing and Call Centers. This anyways most of operators have outsourced to IT companies (like Tata Teleservices, Infosys, etc)
http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/2013-12-06/news/44864330_1_fdi-reforms-telecom-indian-market
AT&T, the No. 2 US mobile service provider, views India as among its top five markets by opportunities and is enthused by additional investment opportunities in the country where the government recently allowed foreign companies to hold 100% in local telecom ventures, from 74% earlier.

"It's a positive that India is open to investments. Our strategy in India continues to evolve. Our focus currently is on data services, roaming arrangements. But that doesn't mean that can't change," Roman Pacewicz, senior vice-president at AT&T told ET.

He was answering a question if AT&T would be keen to re-enter the Indian mobile phone services market, offering voice services as well, after New Delhi relaxed overseas investment rules in the telecom sector.

Post the rule relaxation, there has been speculation that AT&T may look to re-enter India by buying a stake in a domestic venture. Pacewicz said he had no announcements to make on the subject.

Today Again I got message of "Welcome to AT&T wireless" when I called My friend on Vodafone Gujarat and he was not reachable.
So what's developing ???
Any Idea....
