Just returned from an Airtel store and they said a connection is feasible in my area! My brain is a muddle as earlier got an automated message from them saying said it's not feasible, but looks like it is now.

Anyway, they said they probably will have only copper in the area(not fibre) but engineer will check and call me tomorrow to confirm. Also got a text message just now saying that "your connection of 40Mbps is ready" which is not great as I want a faster speed. But I guess given the current situation, they still promised to have it up and running tomorrow so even though it's not my ideal scenario, it will still be better than a dongle I guess.

Question: Is video-conferencing possible on 40Mbps? I guess the upload speed will be around half of that, but not sure if it's good enough? Please advise.

Yes, I'd like a fiber connection too ideally but ACT's office was closed today and just spent 30min in queue waiting to speak to someone, before my call was dropped! Tried their app too but it's no good. Plus, reading online reviews about their unstable connection, frequent repair work and stories of chasing customer service has me scared. I want good speeds yes but with them there seems to be a non-monetary cost as well.

Anyway, may try again tomorrow after speaking to the Airtel fellow. Have also filled up the online form for Jio. Really at this point, I'll take a connection from any of these as I can't afford to be offline next week.

If you can get do with the airtel VDSL connection for now then you will not need a dongle. And you can keep it as your backup connection until they upgrade it to Fiber sometime in the future. And for your main connection it will be better if you go with ACT compared to Jio. They offer more data and overall speeds are consistent. And in terms of service you should probably ask your landlord about customer service and downtimes faced as well as repair times.
