Jio is only having 4G and 5G, so its understandable, but why VI :D
What would BSNL customers do who perhaps only has 2G and 3G, while only few circles have 4G.
Not sure what is Airtel's opinion on this who has many 2G customers as well.

So now VI opposing to cease 2G.
VI should in fact ask TRAI and Govt to force Jio to launch 2G network :D

My village has very poor Airtel network which has implications for my father when he visits there. Almost difficult to get Airtel signal when one is on tne ground floor, while some decent reception when on the roof.

Been trying hard to convince him to migrate to Vi since Vi has good network in my village, atleast 2G. But I don't know how does Vi perform in cities(Mumbai to be precise)since he usually travels to and fro between these places. I cannot even get feedback from anyone since most have migrated to Jio/Airtel.

@Tejas01 Is Jio not available there or he doesn't have a 4G phone?

Here villages have really good Jio network. Most people used to use Idea 2G in villages and remote areas here but most are shifting to Jio since the call quality and network both are better with it.

I have also experienced that Jio network is present everywhere. In my village as well there was no Airtel or Idea coverage. We had to come out of house to make call. But Jio has some network indoors as well and calls can be made without any issue. Same case in Ghats or at remote Konkan beaches where Airtel/VI is not present, but Jio was working.

@Zuke
To explain why my dad won't use or port into Jio, he hates Reliance and it's offshoot brands.
Don't ask me why!! I have been through that road already and made my peace that Jio is not an option for him.

@Rhishav sometimes going at a micro level can make things worse on location basis. What I meant is, I use Airtel in Mumbai. It has good network in my hall. The moment I move to my room, the signal drops drastically to a single bar. Something similar happened with Voda back in 2017 as there wasn't enough towers to give me good signal. Pleading them fell on deaf ears. So the only option was Jio.

My opinion would be to try Vi for 90 days and while travelling to Village and coming back to Bombay if you guys feel it's good then keep it (you'll also get 5G coverage in Bombay by then). Hope this helps...
I've already converted my majority of family sims to Vi Rajasthan.

Well, that was my original plan. The thing is he relies heavily on mobile data and network for calls and internet. So if the network is patchy, I cannot hear him nagging everyday that he's getting poor network.
For this reason, I haven't decided to port out. But will have to do it sooner or later.

Hopefully, these massive funds are utilised by Vi for developing their infrastructure so that options exist, in practice.
