Jio fiber router getting slow over time? Restart fixes it.

@LordSpymaster I am using my Archer A6 in router mode with my Jio router to not face this issue. So, if you have another router then you can use it to avoid this.

I tried using AP mode but it was still slowing down, so at the end, left it on router mode.

@Zuke Not a bad idea, but the double NAT kills a lot of aspirations. Jio existing CGNAT and heavily locked router is already a massive pain.
Not just that, if they knew that their box is such a piece, why not just give customer's the option to use their own?

@Lolita_Magnum I mainly use the router for mobiles and TV in my home. So, I don't face issues with double NAT. My laptop and PC are connected to Jio router using ethernet and there is no slow down issues over ethernet.

And I am sure they know that their router is garbage but I have no idea why they don't let us use our own router for bridge mode. .-. I tried talking about it to their local guy and he was like- "Sabme karna hota restart" and didn't believe me that I had no such issue with RailWire in bridge mode. All of my friends who have broadband also shut it down at night, so I am guessing it is a common thing too. I doubt they would do anything about it.

I have mi 4a ( openwrt ) working as dumb AP with wifi disabled on jio router. Now it works fine without restarting.

Just use your own ONU and router by finding out GPON SN. I use my own router with VSOL ONU and things are great with months of stability.

@Notorious So, it doesn't slow down in Access Point mode for you? I was using it in Access Point mode (to avoid double NAT) and it started slowing down pretty much the same way each time I tried it.

Either switch off 2.4ghz band Or 5ghz band and test, I am using 2.4ghz only with quite stable router.

@Zuke, no it doesn't slow down now.

When I was using jio router as router/ap, LAN clients used to work fine, only wifi would slow down and required restarting.

@Notorious Same here but I can make Wi-Fi work without issues only if I use my Archer A6 in router mode, which basically makes it double NAT. With the Access Point mode, it slows down similar to Jio router. No idea why. ;-;

This problem is also present in ONT provided by airtel and tata. I faced huge packet loss and slow speed issue with the Nokia ONT given by tata but a restart would fix it. The sercomm ONT by airtel had some weird issue with some API end points and pages not loading randomly like instagram and youtube comments. The good thing is that both ISPs allow bridge mode. After getting the Archer AX10, i don't restart it for weeks and it performs very well. The sercomm ONT is just acting as a dumb ONU now.
