Jio SIM not working on iPhone 6

Hi,

I bought a Lyf phone a few days ago for the Jio offer. After reading that Jio is extended to all 4G smartphones, I put the Lyf sim into my iPhone but I seem to have failed to get it to work.

When I try to make an outgoing call, I get a message saying I've run out of balance and to recharge it on myJio. Similarly, I can't get data to work. Any thoughts on what I should be doing?

My cousin does not have iPhone but he said after first FREE 90minutes, he had to call customer care to activate unlimited plan.

During first 90mins - everytime he called and disconnected - it showed number of minutes remaining.

And after 90mins he was not able to call or connect to internet.

I am not sure if u have run into same issue but you can try calling customer care.

I haven't made enough outgoing calls to hit the 90 min limit. Literally got the SIM a few days ago.

Sim card issued for LYF Devices will only work with LYF phones, until preview offer ends. You can get another jio sim card for your iPhone 6 from Reliance Digital stores.

Bummer! Do you know if I need to get a new SIM card or will I be able to exchange the LYF SIM for another SIM?

I am guessing you want to keep the same mobile number and get another sim for the iPhone? Not possible at the moment afaik. You will have to get a new sim for the iphone 6

Well honestly I'm trying to avoid another application. I just moved to India and don't have an Aadhar/PAN card or a proper address proof. I used my cousin to put in an application for the LYF sim and don't wanna inconvenience him again.

Then you need to inconvenience your another cousin.

Your sim is likely locked to a lyf device. I used to hear the same insufficient balance message and data wouldn't work when my sim was tied to my wind 4. Now that it unlocked I can use it on my iPhone 6 without any issues.

rodeoz, how did you get your sim unlocked? Or do you mean it's generally unlocked now that the offer is open to all 4G phones?
