Of course. the time period is from the 30s and 40s pre-independence era. When stage drama was a precursor to tamil cinema. It's kinda based on the romance that existed between K P Sunderambal and S G Kittappa.

P.S. I haven't seen the movie.

Looks like it's like it or hate it sort of movie.

I liked this movie very much. Easy to say it could have been better - but not easy to change it- esp the second half & predictable climax.
What a great acting by Prithviraj,Sidharth,Nazer and other supporting actors.
