Thanks! :happy:Well I did try and asked him for some extended warranty but he outrightly refused and told me ki uski aukat ke bahar hai :P . I asked him for some further discount to which he again refused. He was willing to throw in a mouse. Cheapster!! Then I got tired of convincing him and asked him to give whatever he could along with the mouse. Now all I need is a wireless router which would bring the total toaround 60K :P. Any recommendations? I searched thru the forum but could not come up with anything conclusve. I got an airtel connection. I want a setup like : an always on/on demand connection on my desktop which has access to the airtel wiring. Wifi for my lappy and phone. Possible?

sure! get a wifi router which also has a 4-port ethernet switch, like the Linksys wrt54g which i have or a D-Link model... (dsl-2460t i think)...

Ummmhmmm.... a lil more explanation wud do me gud :P4-port ethernet switch... wats the purpose of dat?Update:The Dell guys didn't come to collect the cheque today. I called em up. They apologized and told me the DTDC courier guy would come tomorrow and they wud process my order immediately in the morning even before they get the cheque. Lets c. My attention tomorrow would be on the Ind-Pak match... gotta go n watch dat live.

4-port ethernet means there are 4 ethernet wired connections also, and you can have 4 wired connections in addition to the wireless, since you mentioned you want to connect your desktop, you'll need that..i use 2 wired connections for my desktop and a laptop, and my tablet connects wirelessly to my Linksys wifi router which is set to do pppoe dialling and is connected to my bsnl Huawei mt800 adsl modem which is set to bridged mode...is that too much jargon for ya? :)ya diwali/holiday time maybe they will delay the order a bit heh

Ok ok ... dat means my modems output goes in2 one of the four ethernet ports of the wireless router... n its output goes in2 my desktops NIC... rit?My beetel is already on bridged mode so I just need to disable DHCP as per the instructions iv read heya on the forum? M i somewat rit?Yep yep yep... on top of dat he was trying to blame me for not informing a lil earlier.

yup, although the router will have an extra port for the modem input so its 5 ports actually, 1 in, 4 out :)

should be about 3 - 4k... its the model WRT54Gx where x can be some alphabet :) it has 2 antennas sticking out of it.there is also the D-Link DSL-2460T (im not sure of the model number here) but it is a (all-in-one) MODEM along with 4-port + wifi router so you can discard your current modem...

WRT54G costs between 2200-2500 from what i know. it has 4 free networ card slots in the back. two antennas.

nice. of course i got ripped off buying it from the local tata croma store heh for rs 3.5k i think it was...
