Well, looking for a laptop. have my eye set on these two

Newegg.com - HP ProBook 4530s (XU015UT#ABA) Notebook Intel Core i3 2310M(2.10GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory DDR3 1333 320GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi Intel HD Graphics 3000
($450 - approx 20250/-)

Newegg.com - lenovo IdeaPad Z560 (0914-42U) Notebook Intel Core i3 380M(2.53GHz) 15.6" Wide XGA 4GB Memory DDR3 1066 320GB HDD 5400rpm DVD±R/RW Intel HD Graphics
($400 - approx 18000/-)

i like the first one. but my question here is it a good deal at that price.
i consider it bad deal if i am not saving atleast 9-10k if bought from india as i will be loosing warranty and goodies(laptop bag basically)

also advice regarding specwise whether its good for atleast 1year or should i avoid i3 altogether. and also about GPU.
so what you guys suggest. If you can post link to similar devices in india with price, it will be very helpful.

this laptop will be used for surfing/document editing/watching dvd rips/bit of gaming

Thanks in advance.

^^ well webdevelopment will be done on this machine but 14' and 15.6' comes with 1366x768 these days so that doesnt matter. just that 14 inch looks congested

By all means go for a 15.6'' then :)

Damn! I just checked the price, it's gonna cost you around 23k. I spent 35k for a Core i3 M380

the only laptop i bought for myself was purchased in the USA.

i bought it with 2 years extended warranty. Dell honored it just fine here in india. the condition when i purchased the laptop was that... three year warranties would be honored globally. less than that would not.

of course the price difference was very high at that time. i think my configuration was around 40K higher in india... so bought it from the states.

today? i would probably only buy a macbook from abroad. because their warranties are at least honored here in india and price difference is somewhat reasonable.

Do they ask for passport to repair under warranty???
When I got my Acer from USA via my mamaji acer had global warranty but would ask for document like passport and all.

errm no. Dell just asks for service tag number. Apple also asks for the serial number. acer might be special.

Dell XPS 15z was hammered in the media as a pathetic attempt to clone macbook pro.

would be great if you can find a site with first hand user reviews . you won't find many here . Config and weight are not the only things to consider when buying a laptop as keyboard, touchpad and most importantly "how well does laptop work after 3-6 months of use" are really as important as system config. my friend bought a Dell from the US with international warranty and there were no problems with the warranty here . don't know about others though .
