Hi, I'm a newbie here and to the world of headphones so pardon my lack of knowledge.

I'm in the market for a pair of headphones. My primary use would be for playing video games and listening to music. So I'd use it on my PC (Dell Inspiron All In One) and sometimes on my phone (Sony Xperia Ion).

The sort of headphone I am looking for is a over-ear headphone. (hope that's the right term) I am a bit of a basshead and would like to get headphones with a good punch in them. But that doesn't mean the mids and highs can be bad.

The price range I'm looking at is under Rs. 5000

I was thinking of getting the Sennheiser HD 439 but I'm not quite sure if it has the bass I need.

So, basically, I need a really good quality headphone that is loud and has a great bass to it and is under 5K. I'm not bothered if it has volume controls or a mic. Also not looking to buy a headphone amp unless that is the only option. No in-ear headphones either.

Hope I didn't miss out on describing what I need.

Thanks in advance.

Skullcandy build quality is not long lasting. Try JBL/Sennheiser/Bose

If you can extend your budget: http://www.mp4nation.net/headphones-amps/headphones/brainwavz-hm5-studio-monitor-headphones
Else: http://www.pristinenote.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=102_65&products_id=295&zenid=a109a1dfbdf538e56b52e295159b25a3
your phone is not going to have enough power to properly drive any decent set of headphones, so get a portable amp like the FiiO E6 etc.
And these headphones have natural sound reproduction so you want get unnecessary bass if that's what you are looking for, If you want that get this instead:
http://www.ebay.in/itm/SONY-MDR-XB600-EXTRA-BASS-STEREO-HEADSET-HEADPHONE-3-5MM-stereo-mini-plug-BLACK-/161029973256?pt=IN_Head_Phones_Head_Sets&hash=item257e226508&_uhb=1
beware though that you cannot have natural sound reproduction and unnecessary bass together. It will invariably get muddy at some level.
