Low Speeds on Archer C6 V3.20 during bridge mode.

I have tried both DDWRT as well as OpenWRT on my D-Link router. They were feature rich but quite buggy. So I never liked both. I reverted back eventually. While I don’t encourage using these, I don’t discourage either. Users are free to try and gain their own experience.

The original question as of now seems still unanswered, why OP is not getting good speed with stock TP-Link firmware when ont is in bridge. This would have been similar as RJ45 cable dropping from ISP into your home otherwise. That’s how it was at my end with Airtel for quite some time. Their ont on gnd floor and LAN cable would come into my house.

Does it boils down to silicon lottery? Two devices with same make/model and same firmware don’t work exactly the same?

I think you guys could borrow another make of router and check if it is an issue with the ONT or the Archer router firmware. I have experience flashing 3rd party ROMs and recovering bricked routers (screwed up CFE etc) in the past. And let me tell you this - the only 3rd party FWs I have found that is stable enough to use on a daily-driver router is Merlin for Asus routers and X-Vortex (for Linksys and Netgear) are both based on Asus' OEM router firmware.

I use DD-WRT, Merlin and X-Vortex on different models of my routers and find DD-WRT provides features but are mostly experimental builds especially the Betas. Try to stay away from them and only go in for the stable version of the FW even if it is pretty old. OEM firmware will be more optimally tuned albeit with less features than 3rd party dev FW.

Naturally a router manufacturer can only stand by its performance with OEM firmware. Have you also tried contacting TP-Link customer support?

Hello All,
I just installed the 22.03.01-rc1 for my Archer C6 V3.2 (India). The installation was smooth and am able to access the GUI.

I am unable to switch on the 5GHz radio. Though it can detect 5G radios in my surroundings when I scan. Are there any settings I am missing? The 2.4GHz works fine

Well I am having speed issues not only on WiFi but while connected to ethernet cable as well.

@nishantt6969 have you tried another make and model of router to check where the fault lies? You'll be able to diagnose this much faster instead of going around in circles with the Archer. If the Archer model itself has an issue with throughput you need to take it up with TP-Link. Of course they won't support you if you're flashing dev or other 3rd party ROMs

I think by default packet steering is not enabled on OpenWRT. Had you enabled it manually?

I don't know but something very strange Is working out for me. I was having same problem with c6 V3 but when I put the router a bit far from walls and other stuff it started giving me again speeds of 300+ Mbps constantly. Try moving Router away from things then reboot it and let me know it helps.
