The company wants to expand into Europe and - as noted above - is looking at Microsoft's Windows Phone. In an interview with the IndiaTimes, Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma was asked if the sale of Nokia to Microsoft has had any impact on the company. Here's the quoted response:

"It has been good for us because they have chosen to stick to the Windows operating system. Had they chosen Android, it would have been a threat for us. But now we're certain that they will not look at Android, which means lesser competition for us. We are working on a Windows phone and you might see something from us around mid of next year."
Had MS not bought Nokia, it would be tough fight between Nokia and Micromax over pricing :)

In other words, they are waiting for OEMs to partner with Microsoft and start developing generic models that can be resold under Micromax branding!
Strange though. I believe ZTE already has Windows Phone devices... But then I guess ZTE is trying to do a HTC.

ZTE? I guess only Nokia, Samsung, HTC and Huawei has WP8 phones.
Even big players like Sony, LG not tried WP8 (they had WP7 phones).
Even if Micromax has to launch WP phone, they need to get it licensed from MS, so I doubt if MS would allow re-branding, (if) any WP Chinese OEM phone to re-branded as Micromax.

ZTE has at least two WP devices.I doubt Microsoft would worry about rebranded devices. Not all companies have the resources to create phones completely on their own.

Yes, ZTE and LG/Sony too had WP7 handsets.
What I meant to say that above 3 never bothered to try out WP8 handsets. LG even never provided official WP7.8 update to their existing WP7.5 phones.

Don't get this hate for micromax. They're good devices excluding the last two models from them. Service center sucks balls mostly.
And mmx co-founder said that they would launch windows phones next year and also start selling phones in russia. That maybe the reason for getting hugh jackman instead of ramdom bollywood star.
