why are you so concerned about it not updating itself multiple times a day? i mean really. you do not trust your online activities enough to feel secure? i used to get annoyed when it asked me to click on the update button. that no longer happens. so i do not really give a damn. windows update would also show any pending updates related to MSE.

all fine here with MSE (i have it installed in office PC and some of my seniors too) , chk the settings tab in it.

I don't want it to update multiple times a day.Issue is that I have to update it manually, every time.It just won't bother to check for the updates on it's own.In short: MSE Automatic Definitions Update is not working.

are you sure you have not disabled some service related to it?

Yeah! I never messed up with any services or any settings that could make it behave this way.

ha bahi. jis shop me mai kaam kartahoo vo log paisevale to hai lekin bahut kanjoos hai, koy bhi cheej unko saste me chahiye.vaise mai to apni barson ki kamayi se ek laptop lenachahatatha. lekin mere bhai ne apne dost se eyh laptop lekar aaya, aur 23 dinse hi use karrahahoon.mujhe gadgets bahut pasand hai. mere haat koyi gadget lag gaya to khana, paani, neend, sabkuch bhooljatahoon.

It should check for updates once every 24-hours, this is how it is supposed to work.

I have the same settings:
