eSIM prevents the smartphone from switching off if it is locked?

eSIM will not prevent switching off, but when phone is locked, it won't switch off without unlocking first. This is what happens in my Samsung phone.

Isn't that is what i said above... Where i said it was due to esim?
In case of physical sim, it's easy to remove and throw off.

One advantage is that, if phone is lost/stolen, data connection or phone itself cannot be switched off at least till battery dies.

This is not an advantage of eSIM but One UI.
eSIMs are nothing but useless and PITA. No benefits or advantages other than what Sushubh mentioned.

I think you're not reading it properly or something else.... Nevertheless no use in wasting time

But Apple is planning to remove physical SIM tray from iPhone 14 (or 15) - Leaker corroborates Apple may switch iPhones to eSIM-only as soon as 2022
And once Apple does it, Samsung/Google and other would follow

What phone do you use?
In some phones, for e.g. the iPhone, erasing the phone or resetting it can delete e-SIM configuration. Not sure about what happens on Android. Check your device specific instructions.

Using the 13 Pro. Apple docs say that the user will be presented an option to keep or erase the eSIM profile. So there's that!

One advantage is that, if phone is lost/stolen, data connection or phone itself cannot be switched off at least till battery dies. Possibly this may help in tracking it using find my device option.

I guess this is the only advantage there is to using an eSIM.

It's more of a hassle right now. No point in switching to it then!

@doineedto yeah, I read that bit on Apple's site. Thing is I changed over to the IP13P last month and had my SIM changed to e-sim. So far so good.
