I've used several routers over the years, D-Link / TP-Link on stock firmware. Then a lot of devices running OpenWRT. Also tried PfSense, OpnSense on x86, and even OpenWRT on x86. Maybe its just me, but the most stable device was always a Mikrotik. It just runs without any issues whatsoever, no reboots for months. Simple and reliable. On OpenWRT, I'd run into some issue or the other after it runs for couple of days, and then a reboot is required to fix. So I end up with a scheduled weekly reboot.

So now I have moved permanently to Mikrotik, and have it running in two locations. At one place an hap ac2 (wifi disabled) and another place hex s (old model). The only time it gets rebooted is during RouterOS updates. I have a site-to-site WireGuard tunnel between the two locations so that I can access both networks. Now with IPv6, direct Wireguard connectivity is not that difficult, without a need for a relay.
