I use a Reliance broadband wired connection that works most of the time. I usually work from one location, hence a wired connection is okay for my current needs.
However, in the future, some new work and training requires me to be online at that period. To meet my future needs, I am looking for a mobile internet service that wil serve as a backup to a slow, patchy or failed broadband connection.
The problem is not that there is no choice - the issue is one of too much of choice. All telecom operators offer similar products and I need tips from the folks on this forum on how to choose a mobile internet connection (like a USB dongle).
Ideally the service should have the following attributes -
[*]Reliability and consistency (obviously!)
[*]2G is okay, 3G would be an icing on the cake
[*]Pay when in use - most of the time, the wired broadband is running, I need the mobile backup only when the connection fails
[*]Do any service offer prepaid coupons that can lie dormant until needed? e,g. no regular monthly charge or long period of payment validity.
[*]The service could be national roaming but that is not strictly necessary
