Mobile Phone with internal Answering Machine functionality

HelloSomeone asked me suggest a basic mobile with Answering Machine feature.A similar thread is like 4 years old, so I'm asking here.Apparently his old phone Samsung S3500 has this feature & he doesn't want to use voicemail thingy.Looking for something cheap & best, so haven't decided on brand & form factor yet.Any recommendations?Thanks

An old Samsung phone that my Dad was using had this feature, no longer in use now. I'm sure it's still lying somewhere in my home.

I don't think newer phones have this feature.

righto. user's current phone is also a samsung and has the feature. i also remember samsung featurephones having some other features which are still not available on smartphones today... we had a similar discussion before. cannot remember that feature. maybe a blacklist for sms?

Symbian used to have an application (third party) to get this feature. Best Answering Machine (Symbian^3), I remember using it way back 2-3 years ago.Weird that no such application is available for android phones. AFAIK

most important question would be related to permissions. do android allow third party apps to pick the phone and respond on behalf of the user?
