Hello guys! I have been experiencing a whole lot of new problems daily with the BSNL broadband connection...and today a new thing has started... i don't know whether anybody else is also having the same issue....
I have smartAX MT882 series modem ... and usually it used to work fine when i used to switch it off and turn it on again... as suggested by many (that u should switch off ur modem after disconnecting the connection ) today as usual i disconnected my connection , and switched off my modem....and till the next session my PC was on, i turned my modem on and tried connecting, my PC gets connected to the modem but the dialer doesnt.... it just keeps on giving a message ..."connecting through WAn miniport.... the remote computer didnot respond "
and when i restart my Pc..it works well... I have to restart my PC everytime i want to connect after switching off-on my modem...Can soembody tell me why is this happening and whats the solution?
Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem and no solution.
PC need not be restarted.
After switching on the modem ,
Open IN IE http://192.168.1.1/hwhtml/pMain.html
See Summary page. Against VPI/VCI list see 0_35 link is in PPPoE or "Bridged"
For this connection in "Bridged" and others the green Icon will be shown.
If NOT click icon "NOTE" .
wait for a few seconds . Check surfing.

This usually happens when modem settings are messed up or LAN drivers are not properly installed. Myself and few of my friends have faced this problem some times.Firstly, upgrade your LAN card/onboard LAN drivers. Secondly, as mentioned in the above post enter the required VPI/VCI values.Sometimes this can happen if the DSLAM (this is located in your telephone exchange) is facing some problems. But usually won't last longer. It used to get stuck on "Connecting to WAN Miniport...". This happened for a week but later when I complained to the exchange they accepted that DSLAM settings were messed up. So can try informing it to the concerned telephone exchange. :)

Hi ! Thanks a lot essbebe and iChaitanya for replying and solving my problem... I tried opening the link essbebe gave but it gave an error of page not found on IE7 and page couldnt be loaded on firefox...... So I reinstalled the LAN drivers etc and complained about this problem to the exchange( I don't know what exactly they said..coz my cousn went there)... since yesterday after 2days of complaining nw my modem is working fine:) Thanks guys:) :thumb:
