Third-party logistics players, which serve e-commerce industry, are collaborating with corner stores to serve neighbourhoods in smaller cities. And not to be left behind, e-commerce players are also building a network of hyper-local and city-specific courier services to widen their reach.

GoJavas, previously logistics arm of e-tailer Jabong, piloted a corner-store pick-up model for the company six months ago. The project is being tested across 39 towns. "The most important factor is to inform the customer as to how the product will be delivered. Kirana stores will be paid a set fee, details of which are yet to be decided," said Vijay Ghadge, COO of GoJavas.

IndiaPost is also said to be considering turning post offices into collection and distribution points to serve the interiors and rural areas.

GoJavas and Jabong are separate now? :o

Since September last year, Gojavas has formed a company independent of Jabong with its own team and 30-40% of its current business is coming from outside of Jabong, the person, who did not wish to be named, said.

It's unclear what percentage of Gojavas is currently owned by Jabong and its promoters and associates. Gojavas, which had experimented with servicing third parties in June 2012, currently works with around 200 companies, including Yepme.com, Lenskart.com, Zivame.com, Avon.
Gojavas started doing flipkart deliveries from many months now. looks like jabong guys still own part of gojavas but they now are independent from jabong.

gojavas has been the best courier service ive used till now. they even beat flipkart in speeds of refunds.
