Hi Guys,

I have some query about my desktop. I dont have that much technical knowledge on systems. Anyone who knows and helps me would be greatful.

I am desktop user and planning to change the Mother board. currently i have 2gb RAM DDR2 Dynet. i am upgrading to 4gb by purchasing new 2gb ddr 2 ram and inserting in another slot.

i want to know which motherboard and processor supports 4GB RAM DDR2.

Which one i should opt for ? I heard many people saying Intel,AMD and stuff.

Kindly suggest on this.

DDR2 technology is like 7-8 years old now. DDR3 based motherboards are still available but I am not sure if any of them supports DDR2 anymore. You might be able to find DDR2 based motherboards if you try hard enough but you will still be getting a pretty outdated rig.

What I would suggest is you to get a complete PC upgrade. You should be able to build a decent config in 30k. Trying to find a 7-8 year old processor and motherboard just to match your old RAM sticks would be a waste of an effort IMO.

Btw which processor/motherboard you currently have?
