Well, I agree to few points here as I am using
TATA Wimax for three years and never faced much problem with connectivity, 99% of the time my connection was live. But they are giving really pricey service now a days. They should cut the price by 25% at least now.
Tata indicom has some hidden tariffs available for those customers who asks for a lower tariff. Go and grab them. Pasted below is the complete review I have written on mouthshut.com. TATA INDICOM

Meat of the review: Recently I came to know that Tata Indicom has some unpublished tariffs and data rates available for its customers which would be given only if you push them. The lowest scheme available in their published tariffs in Bangalore is Rs. 1000 for infinity-384 (means 384Kbps unlimited) connection. But they have an unpublished better tariff of Rs.800 for infinity - 512-256r (means 512Kbps unlimited)!!!!!... You will get this rate if you push them and willing to move to another vendor if they don’t provide this tariff. The above unlimited schemes doesn’t really mean unlimited as they have fixed some fair usage limits in the range of 40 to 70GB per month. So for all reasonable internet users, its practically unlimited but not really unlimited.
Background:
I have been a Tata indicom Wireless (Wimax) broadband customer for over 2 years now. Even though I had bad experiences with Tata indicom when I was in hyderabad (2006), I took the connection as it was the only connection available in the area where I am living. For the first 6 months or so there was hell lot of issues on speed, connection avaiability, reliability etc. I had to call up the customer care on a daily basis to get me connected to the internet. The waiting period on the customer care calls were ridiculous. Long story short, I gained a lot of tips and tricks on their system and managed to run the internet connection.
Later things got settled down and for the last one year or so, I am getting the connection at good speeds, very reliable and without any problems. I have even pre-paid 6 months rental and got a Wifi
router free. But then certain other wireless broadband vendors started appearing in my area with better tariffs and better data rates. But I didn’t wanted to switch as I don’t want to go through the pain of all the problems that a new vendor might bring in. One fine day through my colleague/friend who is having the same connection, came to know that Tata indicom has some underground tariffs with better data rates.
I have switched to the new rates. Fingers crossed on what real data rates am I going to get.
