Fox started developing a Mrs. Doutbfire sequel in 2001, but Williams reportedly rejected the script in 2006, and the project has remained dormant since. The actor noted in a recent interview, “They kept trying and it doesn’t work… because at the end of the first one they reveal who [Mrs. Doubtfire] is.” David Berenbaum (Elf) must have found a way to make it work, because The Wrap reports Fox 2000 has revived Mrs. Doubtfire 2 with a script by Berenbaum. Williams is on board and Chris Columbus will return to direct.
