MTNL Broadband: 4Mbps Unlimited for Rs.999 is enough to settle my Online Internet life!!

it would settle my life forever with that Speed.:D
haha , someone would have thought the same thing with 512 kbps in 1999 , give me 512 kbps in 999 per month , it would settle my life forever with that Speed .

before the end of 2010 we'll have 2mbps unlimited @ 999 rs. tomorrow will be a very big day in indian telecom history. after auctioning of 3G spectrum we'll see a great revolution in wireless broadband and also in landlin broadband.

I want 4Mbps fully Unlimited Speed without any Fair Usage Policy, it's more than enough to settle my online life, 4Mbps Unlimited@ Rs.999 per month for Video streaming, downloading etc, Please MTNL start providing such offer ASAP, it would settle my life forever with that Speed.:D

It will happen eventually, but you need to be patient.

2 main things need to happen: 1. Wholesale cost of international bandwidth needs to come down by at least 75%, and 2. NIXI per gb charges need to be abolished. Based on current trends, I can only predict that the former should happen by year-end 2011 and the latter only if the right people are pressured.

You might be right about 2mbit/s at 999, but I can assure you that 3G is not a panacea (cure-all) for Indian Broadband. Each company is spending in excess of 1 billion dollars for a pan-India spectrum allocation- and they will have to recoup that cost.

In my opinion, India should pretty much skip 3g and jump straight up to LTE.

In addition, you will start to hit a lower limit on pricing.

Hopefully soon India will be like most of Europe in that a 2mbit/s UL plan costs Rs900 or so, but a 50mbit/s UL plan costs only Rs2300 or so (and yes, this is actually the case in most of Western Europe), and only the really really light users will be on anything cheaper.

government has messed up the 3G launch so badly. mobile companies would milk the customers for a couple of years to get back the money they spent for the licenses. 3G launch is expected to be yet another sham from the mobile service providers in the country. :(

from what i remember BSNL and MTNL would have to pay the price of the highest bidding win for their own 3G licenses right?

it would be interesting to see how they behave once the bids are over and it is made clear how much they would have to pay now.

bsnl and mtnl failed to gain from the massive advantage they were given by the government. let's hope they would pay the price now.

^^ BSNL & MTNL just wasting their infrastructure and opportunities, both of these companies can be no.1 but these are sleeping monster. and its seems like only privatization is the solution for these monsters.

They shouldn't. Our price is one of the lowest compared to the population!
