you have probably been charged 377 MBs for 45 minutes after 8 AM.

for every body who is having trouble rebooting their modem for the nu plans while keeping the modem in pppoe, here is a short tutorial.---->

(the basic method is the same one described in cyberwiz's post in the sticky but i have edited the script a little to make it work and also added the steps required to make the logoff, shutdown of the comp automatic)

the objective is to
make the modem reboot itself a couple of times at somewhere around 12:05am
l

Chinmay,
the reboot.txt details in cyberwiz's post is this:

192.168.1.1 23
WAIT "Login"
SEND "admin\m" (enter your login ID here)
WAIT "Password"
SEND "admin\m" (enter your password here)
WAIT "->"
SEND "12\m"
WAIT "==>"
SEND "1\m"
WAIT "The system shell is being reset. Please wait..."

yours is different. Could you explain the difference?

Cheers.

I've tried the tst10 and reboot.txt script method successfully since a long time. However i've had problems lately with the tst10.exe not able to execute the script. Tst10.exe runs but its window is empty. After some time the window closes itself. The script is not executed. I have inserted /r:reboot.txt in the command line yet it hasnt worked. I've deleted teh scheduled task and recreated it a number of times yet it doesnt work. I tried using telnet and opening the ip 192.168.1.1 on port 23 but i get the error message "cannot open..." I cant recall how this problem started exactly but i noticed that ever since i did a repair install of winxp and reinstalled service pack3, the problem seems to have started. Also on one off occassion i noticed the script run successfully after i created a new scheduled task. but after that it hasnt worked again. Something really mysterious, wonder whats happening. Any help? Thanks.

I use a simple process to make sure my pc is shut down on time. This is what I do: 1. I use flashget for my downloads, it works wonderfully (full support for link-removed, link-removed, mediashare, etc)2. Flashget has an option of shutting down pc after the downloads are over , it shows you the approximate time left for the download so u can get the time accordingly3. I also use a freeware for auto shutdown.I just have to enter the time or set a countdown. I think this software is called greenshield or something, just google for autoshut down freeware That's it . No programming and codes required

I use Internet download manager for downloading and it has a option where you can schedule it to stop downloading at a particular time and completely shut down your machine...So you can schedule it to stop downloading at 7.45 and shut down the machine at 7.50....works perfectly fine for me...you can try this out

I have exactly same problem. I have been using the tst10 method for a long time both on windows xp and vista, but recently it has stopped working....I get the same empty window that you are getting. And yes mysteriously enough it works sometimes for me too, and then doesnt work the next time. Does anybody here know a solution to this?

My question is tht even if u dont shutdown your router after 8AM MTNL only charges for MB downloaded after 8AM so there will be no download even when the router is on but system is shut.
Is this right na??????

I am not sure but I am getting a feeling that MTNL has updated their system so if you switch off the router after 8, then it only counts the download which has been made after 8 and not the whole nights download.
Can anybody here confirm this.

Yes, that's what they say privately if you approach them. But the website mentions that you must restart the router after 8 A.M to avail of night unlimited plan.

I have recently started using the 'tst' method on pppoe; i don;t have bridge mode. the method works fine for me. Could you, if possible, post a screen shot of your issue so that i and other members can check it out?
