Hi All,Apologies for all the confusion. I am getting my MTNL connection in a few days and wish to equip a wifi version of the connection. MTNL has told me to get my own router/modem.I have a router with me which used to work on my internet provided by a local cable network guy. Now, do I need a modem + router, or just a modem or just a router?I already have a router, so whats the best way forward. Thanks a lot.

You need a modem. If you don't need Wifi, just the modem is fine. For Wifi, you need the modem and a router. Your existing router should work as long as you can configure it with MTNL's settings.

Standalone modems are hard to find unless one could get them 2nd hand of eBay or other sites. Generally Isp's provide with modems. guess would have to go with modem+router from Netgear ,Linksys , Belkin ..etc. had a similar issue as couldn't find single modems..luckily was switching from airtel so utilised their modem on mtnl.
