MTNL Broadband: Frustrated!! Need help please!!!

not sure if i understand. the scene is like this1. there are 2 telephone sockets in the house2. connecting just a telephone to either of the sockets - telephone works3. connecting just the modem/router to either of the sockets - it works in the living room but does not work in the bedroom4. Connecting both the modem and telephone using a splitter to either of the sockets - the arrangement works in the living room; have not tried in the bedroom.I am looking at having the telephone in the living room and the modem (connected directly to the tel. line)in the bedroom so that i can hook up my PC using ethernet. Am i missing something?

In post #20 above I was referring to the tel wire coming into the house AND whether its coming to the modem first, for that you will have to know the wiring layout of your house, I have 4 sockets in different rooms but the tel wire coming to my house comes first to my modem. All this is mentioned on the MTNL website as well as the user guide they provide on their site.
