MTNL Broadband Pathetic speeds for certain sites at random times

If you're downloading from Akamai, those servers are in Bangalore only, so they should be pretty fast.

I dont know if this is just bad luck or what, but the mtnl service is erratic once again. and this time its much more worse. speedtest gives full 1.3Mbps if I test against a server in the India. But if i test against an arbitrary server anywhere in the world, more often than not I dont go above 0.25Mbps... For certain servers I get the full 1.3Mbps. There is no pattern to this. I tried 10 servers in the US, I got full speeds in only 2 of them. None in Srilanka, Pakistan, Thailand, Singapore... barely 0.25Mbps...

I thing I noticed is, if the ping response is within 300ms, then almost always I get the full 1.3Mbps. But most of the times I get latencies of 600-900ms and some 0.25Mbps speeds...

The above might explain why the speeds are good within the country but bad almost everywhere outside it...
