Which is faster? Light or electricity? The answer should be obvious
In addition, you can't have a 70+km local loop with no repeaters using copper - the signal deteriorates way too quickly -
ADSL, VDSL and Cable are only good up to 5, 1.5 and about 3km from the "base" respectively.
Not so with optical. For us, using fiber-optics removes the degradation variable almost completely, and we don't have to put repeaters in if we don't want to. We could, in theory, supply Kalyan or Dombivili from a PoP in Churchgate if we had the rights to lay the fiber that way (we don't though, because that would be insane and expensive).
I haven't really faced ping problems... I play warcraft every day on garena and I have never faced such problems. Since you guys say its a main cable fault then I gues I should have had problems too. Just wondering...
