Hiya,

I've just got my new MTNL Tri-band connection. I've been having a certain problem for almost 2 days now. I'm unable to access the internet! I've checked the Router Page (http://192.168.1.1), the connection status displays "Terminated: Modem Hang-Up". What does this mean? I've called up the MTNL customer support but they hardly seem to know what they're talking about. The MTNL customer support is almost completely useless!:S

Is it some fault on my laptop or connection settings? Or is it a MTNL server-side problem?

I live in Janakpuri, by the way.

I'd appreciate any help,:thumb:

Reset the modem. ( details lacking) . and re enter settings.VPI/VCI for MTNL 0 and 32.

Hiya,

Thanks for the reply, I've tried everything though, it just doesn't connect!

Sorry bout that, I figured it would have been a server-side problem so I omitted details - Anyway, I got a MT 882 modem (supplied by those goons @ MTNL) and Tri-Band Connection (256KB Unlimited, ADSL2).

I've tried both USB and Ethernet, I've checked if there was anything amiss in my Laptop settings. I've also checked the Router Page for any messed up settings. Everything seems fine on both fronts.

Hiya,

Thanks for the reply.

I've tried that and even re-configuring the settings on the Router and my Laptop, a dozen times. It still doesn't connect and I get the same "Terminated: Modem Hang-Up" message :(.

I've been talking to the customer service goons, apparently they have NO clue what, I or they, are talking about. One of the goons said something about a "virus", that's a completely ridiculous suggestion , especially to a Net freak like me :P! It seems the MTNL customer service is nothing short of CRAP :wall:.

I've checked the password and username too, no misspellings there! Got any other solutions to this weird problem?

If your OS is Vista usual advice is to disable IPV6 in TCP/IP properties. XP pro sp2.
Please post ipconfig/all data.
2. Use IE browser.
For MT882. Try "always on connection " ppp?PPPoE.
After Save/Reboot go to summary page.
check 0_32 connection
Green Icon should appear
Click "Note"icon to connect.
still "NOGO" go to Diagnostics page. Ignore OAM5 fail status.
see screen shot see BSNL forum for today ) mt880 similar.
