Hi Everyone,I thought I must share this one.I got my Triband tariff plan changed to NU849 from 256K unlimited. While the tariff plan got changed promptly on 1st June, the download speed remained 256K only (as verified on modem).Checked quite a few threads on this forum and decided to see what MTNL customer support does. Logged a telephonic complaint on 3rd June with much difficulty to make the call center guys understand what my problem is. They said someone from Exchange/tech side will call up by 4th.No response from anyone till 4th June hence put in another complaint thru MTNL's online complaint logging system on 4th June night and gave details again. This time MTNL guys called on 5th while I was not around, they called again on 6th morning and I explained the issue. They said they have understood the issue and would change the speed by Monday 8th June.Nothing till 8th evening and when I checked my complaint status, these guys had closed the same saying "Under DSL-NU-849 ADSL plan speed range is from 256kbps upto 2Mbps& not constant speed of 2Mbps."I simply put in another online complaint against this one and said "I understand the speed is 256K upto 2MB, but I cannot get any speed more than 256K because the download speed on the DSL modem is set to 256K from exchange side (DSLAM). Can anyone explain this please ?"Got a call at 2pm today on 9th June from some guy who for whatever reason would only speak in Hindi but he said within couple of hours my port speed would be set right. And indeed when I checked at 4pm, my modem is showing downstream speed of 2048 instead of 256. Not really bothered about how much actual rise in download speeds would I get right now.Happy because this hasn't taken more than an hour of my time. And MTNL guys have actually called me more than I called them to get "my" problem sorted. The only issue now remains is how do I get the modem (DSL-502) scheduled reboot working on my Windows Vista machine. Anyone got fresh idea's ? Most of the stuff on the forum seems XP oriented and is not working on Vista.Hope this helps someone.RegardsUmeshPS - This only firms up my belief that has come from years of interfacing with the likes of MTNL & DOT et all (or for that matter with anyone with whom I'm doing business) that you got to find out how they work. Once you've done that, follow the procedures and it's much easier to get the work done in a reasonable time.
