hi, Thanks guys. ANyway i was wondering will torrentys work on this type of internet connection. I tried using bitcomet it shows me error stating check firewall and NAT settings. i disbaled the windows vista firewall but still not able to download. Can anyone suggest ??

1.Easy method is "Bridged MODE" where you dial the connection instead of being "always On ".
2.Now since Netgear is also there it may require new settings ? READY ?????
How is Port Forwarding Configured?
These routers do port forwarding by assigning port numbers to a \"service\" associated with the application you want to run. \"Rules\" are set for particular services. Rules block or allow access, based on various conditions such as the time of day and the name of the service.
3.Port Forwarding for the Dlink DSL-502T
port forward in D-Link 502T You need a static ip may be 192.168.1.136 etc.
Any way try.

hi,
Can't we check how much download has happened from the mtnl site directly itself.

for the option which where ealrier given
1)DataFox can be used to check your usage ( from MTNL site ), and the usage will appear in your status bar.

But if i use the IE browser then this will go a toss.

2.Tautology Bandwidth Meter - Internet Traffic Usage Monitor for use in your computer.

But this software does not support vista i guess, it is mentioned support till XP

3. Login Page mtnl
This mtnl site is not opening at all.

P.s. The port forwarding thing,is it required to for the torrents to download.

@fxthomas.
1a). I would suggest first.you try PF only with D-Link for your torrent downloads.
.b) If successful, you will be confident ,to set the Netgear also.
2. No harm in downloading the program and trying. A very good program. and almost accurate.
Clcik the . exe file. properties. You may get an option for backward compatibility setting in Vista ( In Xp it is available. even an old program of windows 95 can be used )3. try this also Shaplus. NetMeter 1.1.0 (beta) released
also almost. accurate
Use one, for day usage and another for NU. ( Always switch off modem at about 1155PM , and restart at 1205 as advised by MTNL Timings suggested in this forum to be on safe side ).

hi, I did the port enabling thing in Netgear ansd it is working fine now, but i have a basic question. Since i have a 849NU plan the mtnl had said to restart the router/modem before midnight and after 8 a.m. I want to know suppose i had restarted it before midnight but in the morning i restarted it after 9 a.m. or so, what effect will it cause ???. regards,

It appears the MTNL usage meter will record your usage from say 1145 to 0300 as accountable usage. Cannot split it into 1145 to 1200 and 1200 to 0300 They have advised it in their FAQ's. Still to be on safe side switch off modem at 1150 and 0750 !!!!!!Start only at 1205 and 0805. !!!!!1145 to 0900 may be accounted as full usage to be paid !!! ( D/L 1200AM to 0800AM say 4GB you may have to pay for it )

1145 to 0900 may be accounted as full usage to be paid !!! ( D/L 1200AM to 0800AM say 4GB you may have to pay for it )

which technically means u'll have to pay a minimum of 4k if you have d/l 4G in your bill since d/l's are charged @ Re.1/MB ..... and with the accounts usage site being down 80% of the time you wont even know what crime you have committed..... so by the time u'll get ur bill you'll be phucked and MTNL will happily laugh its way to the bank....

hi,

I did a speed test at mtnl site, i have a 849NU plan and the result they showed is

File Size: 1000KB
Time to Download: 41.073second(s)
Your Bandwidth: 223.86Kbps
(0.219Mbps)

is this speed good enough and i an using the wireless modem.

How can see how much GB i have used . I tried the mtnl site
http://register.mtnl.net.in/ but is down for the past 4-5 days. Can i get the info from their help line.
