Man, I have got so used to 2 mbps i don't think i will be happy with 256... it will be like shifting from a ferrari to a maruti 800.. :O

They are still at it. Fleecing the Mumbai customer. Mumbai is the milch cow of the country. :@:wall::@. I can only hope that once 3G comes to mumbai (hopefully by end of 2009) broadband prices in Mumbai will come down as 3G USB dongles will be available, till then its going to be a happy hunting ground for these scamsters.

3G would not change the broadband scenario in the urban areas at all. It will be bloody expensive and I don't see them coming out with a unlimited plan cheaper than 999/month.Atleast MTNL Mumbai has brought down UL plan price in three figures from four! I am just hoping to see 512kbps UL plan prices go down south for MTNL Delhi.:P

Guys did u even saw that the MTNL Router's rental has been reduced from Rs. 80 to Rs. 50. Thats same as Delhi:happy::dance:. Total saving of Rs. 360 every year.:hysterical:
Did you even read post #7 above yours?
they have reduced rent too, from 80 to 50.. now i dont know if for all plans or just for unltd plans.
And that's peanuts by the way. Delhi gets the same plan @599 and we get it for 999. And then we are so happy that the router rent is reduced by 30 bucks. What about the 4800 bucks extra per year that we will pay for the plan? We should not remain content till we are given the same deal as Delhi.

Its true that 3G will initially be expensive but with the advent WiMax they too wil not be able to fleece the customer for long. Anyway the so called 'new schemes' with 'new prices' for mumbai are hardly anything a customer will jump with joy (except those who don't foot their own bill) :). This is what I call a mugs game.

256kbps unlimited is available in 900-1000 rs with many private ISP, then what is the advantage of mtnl ??this should start race bet. private ISP to bring there or MTNL price to further down????:yahoo:

Private ISPs are not availbale everywhere. I tired getting Airtel at my place but the ports in my building were full so they couldn't provide me with the connection whereas I have two MTNL lines and Triband is reliable. Slows down a bit at times but its good.Has anyone been able to change their plan to 256kbps u/l for Rs. 999 ?

999 is atleast ok when NU is 849 (even if its 2mbps).2500 looked to me as if it was just a random figure picked by MTNL guys.
