I got banned!
My friend had one of the basic plans, in the last two months he got a b'band bill of 5k+, so on 1st he rang up & asked to be shifted to the 999 [lan, he was told 'from next month'. He replied in that case he wont use it for one month

they said the plan is 999 UL but i am not sure if must start downloading like hell cuz they said from next month. what to do ?????

Im sure my plan has changed cause the a**holes changed my speed from 2 MBPS to 256K WaaaaahhBut at least its unlimited so I can leave torrents on all day heheheCheers

speed still 2mbps here.OK my service page is fixed and it shows that i am having unlimited plan. so it means i can download, but speed is still 2Mbpsshould i start downloading or wait till next month O_O ???

ur plans hv changed so u can start downloading.......ur speeds will reduce to 256k may b after this month.....(can't tell abt it really !!! )....bt many ppl hv got 2mbps ul for few months (including me ) due to careless MTNL workers :cool2:

If your service page shows your new plan and they have confirmed it by calling you, then you should be fine. My only word of caution for those who change MTNL plans is this. On the day of the change you can't be sure. So for that day only, assume the lower usage plan is in operation.
From the next day onwards you should be fine.
They charge on pro-rata basis but you cannot be sure which plan they will have in operation on the day when the change occurs. I also suggest that you print out the session usage details at the end of the month when you did the change and make your own calculation and compare with the MTNL bill.

This screen is important. Save it in case you need to fight later. It means that you have been on the unlimited plan from Jan 3rd. Now the only ambiguity here is about the usage on Jan 3rd itself. You will have to accept that days usage against the old plan (with new limits) if that is how they take it when billing you. Your bill will have two components:
a. The rental which will be 2 or 3 days on your old plan and the remaining 28 or 29 days at the 999 rate.
b. The actual usage of 2 or 3 days which will be taken against your free limit against your old plan proportionate to the number of days. The extra will be charged at Re 1 per MB.

MTNL will charge you rent (399+50)x3/31 + 999x28/31
Your free usage for 3 days will be 1024x3/31 MB while your actual usage is about 120 MB higher. So you will be charged Rs 120 for that.
The calculation will change a little if they consider you were on the new plan on 3rd Jan. It may be a bit higher as the rent is certainly higher while your average usage on the first two days was more.
