hi,I have to make a call to ahmedabad,but whenever i dialed the number same tape repeats "this code does not exist"Please help i dialed code 079 - number same messagei dialed 9179 same again and 9579 still same message.:walllease tell which code is to dial for call to Ahmedabad(gujarat).it's urgent.

have u enabled STD on ur line? its not enabled by default, you have to make request on 1500.

but if the service is not activated in the connection then u will hear " this service is not available to you"..i guess this is something else.Try any other STD number to some other state and see if u r getting connected.

MTNL sometimes gives wrong message. Sometimes when i call another dolphin number it says this number does not exist, whereas its my own number!

I've same problem with std call, though I've requested for STD facility at the time of registration. I consulted sanchar haat in my locality. You've to register dynamic lock ie123 xxxx xxxx then u hear long beep & now put receiver. Now, open with 123 xxxx 3 & close with 124 xxxx 1.(though they suggested me 1 for opening the lock & 3 for closing).Here xxxx is four digit of your choice. For example, 1111, 1234 or any numerals.However, it'll better to consult your JTO if STD facility is not activated. They will do within 24 hours.(I've migrated from sify to MTNL just 15 days back)Thanks,Anand

also check if you have proper 10 or 8 digit number of the destination after the STD code.
