1) WHat is the mode that the Linksys in now operating on?
ive tried the auto config-dhcp mode as well as the pppoe mode on the linksys router, still get nat errors.

2) What is the gateway assigned in lan card TCP/IP properties ?..i hope its 192.168.1.1
yup, it is 192.168.1.1
which ever device is in pppoe mode, its local ip becomes the gateway of the pc.
currently, the adsl modem is in pppoe mode, so i use its local ip as the gateway.

port forwarding has not been done correctly on the D-Link
this cant be possible coz ive never got any nat errors on azureus with the adsl modem connected directly to the pc (without a wifi network) or when connected in bridged mode, when in a wifi network.

the linksys is also natting which needs to be turned off
how do i turn off nat in the wrt54gc?
i searched for it in its manual and also went thru each page in its settings in detail but never cud find such an option
although i did find the same when i enabled pppoe mode in the adsl modem which has NAT on.
furthermore, i did disable UPnP too in the linksys router and also enabled DMZ and gave my PCs lan ip as the host address, still the nat error exists.
the same ip ive given for the port forwarding ip, in the wifi routers settings.
i dont know why but the router doesnt "like" the adsl modem to be in any other mode, other than the bridged mode

BTW have u tried a different torrent client with this setup?
i guess, this wud be my last alternative now:(.
utorrent might work well but if a nat prob exists in my wifi setup, how wud using different torrent clients solve it.:whistle:
i will still email linksys support about this port forwarding prob as well as how to enable telnet in my wifi router.

I'd suggest playing with different modes on the wifi router and see if the NAT error goes away..anyways the kinda probs ur having are very difficult to diagnose thru a forum..they basically require physical access to the devices..PS wat are the diff modes that ur router offers?

PS wat are the diff modes that ur router offers?

dhcp, static ip, pptp, pppoe, heart beat signal.

EDIT: I was trying out DMZ on the adsl modem...i enabled it to route traffic to the wifi routers ip address.
then i checked whether the nat error was resolved....it wasnt
so i disabled dmz again.
but after disabling it in the modem, the wifi setup lost net connectivity.
i restored my good settings for both, modem and wifi router and started configuring them from scratch to the last known setup (like mentioned above) but still the router wouldnt allow net connectivity.
but once i enabled dmz on the adsl modem again, it starting working.
now i never had dmz enabled before and it was working just fine in the same setup.
what happened now?

EDIT: sorry, false alarm. for some reason, after disabling dmz agian this time, its working fine.
i think i better stop trying anymore new configs and try to either find a way to make port forward work in this mode or get the bridged mode setup in the adsl modem and find a way for telnet to gain access to the wifi settings, so that i can reboot it.

Yohu, u dont need to tinker with settings of D-Link..it is perfectly setup (its Linksys that is causing the prob here)..now as far turning off NAT on linksys is concerned there are many of these routers which wont allow u to turn it off...so wat i'd suggest is to put the linksys on the static IP mode and enable DMZ (on the linksys) and put the PC's IP address in it..

ok but what will be the settings of the 'Static IP' mode of the Linksys?the static ip mode requires ip addr, subnet mask, gateway, dns1, dns2 and dns3. OK...i setup the static ip mode in the linksys router.i left the adsl modems settings alone ie.pppoe mode.i even enabled dmz and provided the PCs lan ip in there and then power cycled the router.still the same damn nat error.and i think the reason that im unable to provide access to the router thru telnet is the same reason that i cant port forward for azureus.basically, i cant port forward at all coz both, azureus and telnet require port forwarding and access to both r failing.and i know that the latest firmware upgrade (1.01.0) for version2 of wrt54gc solves this port forwarding prob just the way the version1 firmware upgrade does.but i dont face this port forwarding prob when the adsl modem is connected in bridged mode.its only when the adsl modem is configured in pppoe mode that it gives me this prob.also in the current lan configuration of the adsl modem and pc with the wifi router, i dont have net connectivity when i configure the adsl modem back in bridged mode.the bridged mode of the modem works only when its connected thru the 'Internet' port of the wifi router instead of the lan port.

the static ip mode requires ip addr, subnet mask, gateway, dns1, dns2 and dns3.

IP Address = 192.168.1.2
Mask = 255.255.255.0
Gateway = 192.168.1.1
DNS1 = 4.2.2.1
DNS2 = 208.67.222.222
DNS3 = 208.67.220.220
DHCP = disabled

^ this should stop the router from natting

and i think the reason that im unable to provide access to the router thru telnet is the same reason that i cant port forward for azureus.
basically, i cant port forward at all coz both, azureus and telnet require port forwarding and access to both r failing.

access to telnet on router through LAN has got nothing to do with port forwarding..port forwarding is only done for incoming connections from the internet..

but i dont face this port forwarding prob when the adsl modem is connected in bridged mode.
its only when the adsl modem is configured in pppoe mode that it gives me this prob.

'u dont face a prob coz thats the standard setup and router is made for that..what u are trying to achieve is actually a type of "jugaad"..i.e u are trying to use the router as a switch with integrated wi-fi fuctionality..which is not what its meant for..its a router meant to route traffic between lan and WAN..using the PPPoE mode and NAT..

IP Address = 192.168.1.2
Mask = 255.255.255.0
Gateway = 192.168.1.1
same as mine.

DNS1 = 4.2.2.1
what ip is this? im using the same default gateway ip over here ie. 192.168.1.1

DNS2 = 208.67.222.222
DNS3 = 208.67.220.220
im using the preferred and alternate dns server ips that i used in the lan settings of my PC. is that ok?

DHCP = disabled
yup, its disabled. infact, dhcp is disabled in both, the adsl modem and the wifi router.

anywayz, my static ip config is allowing me a proper net connectivity on the pc as well as the wifi device. so i guess, whatever settings ive used for the 'Static IP' shud be correct.

'u dont face a prob coz thats the standard setup and router is made for that..what u are trying to achieve is actually a type of "jugaad"..i.e u are trying to use the router as a switch with integrated wi-fi fuctionality..which is not what its meant for..its a router meant to route traffic between lan and WAN..using the PPPoE mode and NAT..
hmm, ok. but all i want is a wifi setup that allows port forwarding and access to either the modem or the router so that i can restart the mtnl triband session before 12/8am.

Yeah ur setting are OK.from the experimentation that u have done..it seems that NAT cannot be turned off on the Linksys..u can confirm the same by trying another torrent client viz utorrent or bitcomet..if u still get NAT error means there is no way to turn NAT off..u could also email linksys asking them if there is any way to turn NAT off..

i will definitely try utorrent.if this client works without any nat errors then goodbye azureus and issue resolved. :thumbsup:i even turned off my zonealarm firewall and turned off the adsl modem.then i tried to access the wifi router again thru telnet, still it isnt possible.so my zonealarm firewall isnt blocking anything, its the damn router itself that has a prob.i have turned off upnp and under 'Advanced Routing' i had changed the 'Operation Mode' from 'Gateway' to 'Router' and manually added the PCs static info. net working fine but still the nat errors. i have actually talked thru chat with a Linksys support tech from the states last night!we were able to try out only two thingshe gave me a port 992 to forward for telnet which didnt work.then he told me to change the MTU in the main settings page to manual with a size of 1300, instead of auto.this too didnt help.then it was too late (around 3:15am) and so i had to end the conversation.when i resume the conversation again tonight, apart from turning off nat and trying to provide access to telnet, what else shud i ask him?

well i cant understand why he is telling u to port forward for telnet..coz u are trying to access the telnet daemon from the LAN itself..which doesnt need any port forwarding..the web config page that u access is also a daemon ,ie a HTTP server running on port 80 on the router & u dont need to port forward port 80 to access the webpage from LAN ..do you?and i am not sure if its an MTU prob either coz then u would have faced issues with streaming etc on the netwhat else can u ask him..well..umm..u are already talking to him on both the probs.. i cant think of anything else.. maybe u could ask him if its possible to return the damn thing to the Linksys office in india..
