as a rule of thumb expect anywhere from 90 - 95% of the advertised speed as the remaining 5 - 10% gets lost as overhead /noise /line problem...

i think the norms are 80% of advertised speeds... its by TRAI.

This is ridiculous, 20% bandwidth loss in a 256kbps connection..

it means that ISP must provide atleast 80% to users comp not that they have provide 80% only. ISPs giving 110% under most UL plans. So they are covered
