It seems DVD-A has been made usable on a pc (not very sure about the copy protection part, no .mkb files on my disc) - Hydrogenaudio Forums > DVD-A Explorer Alpha 8. Had one white elephant (my only one) DVD-A disc lying around. And it works wonderfully. Can access 24bit 96000khz 2 channel and 6 channel MLP files and can also convert it to flac (using eac3to).
Didn't notice any difference in quality vis-a-vis cd because I am using a standard stereo headphone.
