My current Airtel + Router setup, am I doing it the right way ?

Hey Experts,

Need ur inputs and clarification regarding my current setup

My current Airtel BB connection (with static IP)


The above setup has been working fine for me, but I have been reading lot of comments on this forum about
  • ONT
  • Bridged mode
  • Dialing Static IP/PPPoE from my 2nd router (Asus)

So just wanted to understand is my current setup fine or I need to change connection to my mode via PPPoE mode...
I am confused please help...
 
Your current setup is having Double NAT, to avoid it, just enable bridge mode on any of the port of Huawei, and connect your personal router to that port of Huawei using ethernet cable. Then select PPPoE protocol in WAN of your router, and enter dslid@airtelbroadband.in as your username and account number as your password, both can be found in Airtel Thanks App.

I was able to setup my Asus router on Bridged mode via PPPoE protocol, it was a easy setup and now I can see my Airtel static IP when logged in to Asus router and internet works without any speed drop.

So apart from this is there any other settings that I need to change/add in Airtel modem or the Asus router ?
 
@anmolbhard004 It doesn't work like that. Airtel provides static IP through IPoE protocol and dynamic IP by PPPoE.
Archer C6 does not support DUAL-WAN. You will need a device which has dual van functionality. You will need two ethernet cables, one for PPPoE and one for IPoE(STATIC-IP), you can not utlize IPoE and PPPoE over single WAN port.

No, they do not disable PPPoE. PPPoE works just fine.

and you will also need to have an ONT from Airtel which supports two bridge profiles on same VLAN(vlan-100 in case of airtel).
Nokia ONT does not support two interfaces with same VLAN. But Huawei that I have, supports it.
 
@Skeeter sorry my question was not straight
Currently I have bridge mode on my Nokia router using dynamic ip I connect my ARCHER C6 and I use PPPoe for internet
IF i get static ip what will I choose in internet connection type in my router [eg archer c6] static ip or again same PPPoE?
 
Static IP or IPoE in archer c6, while Nokia will stay in bridge mode, no need to do changes in nokia ont.
I did not understand the dynamic IP part, can you elaborate?
